Carin' Clinic is a medical home for children in our community. Please join us in making a difference every day!
The mission of the Carin' Clinic is to provide affordable, high-quality health care services to children between the ages of birth and 19 years of low-income families who have no access or limited access to health care, thus promoting healthy children, healthy families, and a healthy community.
* Carin' Clinic was created by two school nurses who saw a need in the community and submitted a proposal to the City of Arvada.
* Collaboration with various community entities created our unique clinic to serve uninsured children.
* Became a 501(c)3 tax-exempt clinic in 1997.
* For the first 16 years, operated out of Arvada Middle School.
* Due to budget constraints, in early 2010 Jefferson County School District decided to close Russell Elementary School and turn Arvada Middle School into a Kindergarten through 8th grade school, and they needed the space that Carin' Clinic had been using.
* The clinic temporarily closed during the summer of 2010 while locating a new site.
* Fortuitously, Jefferson County Head Start was interested in buying the closed Russell Elementary and also wanted a clinic on site.
* In August 2010, the Carin' Clinic reopened in a double trailer behind the former Russell Elementary School and formed a collaboration with Head Start.
* Remodel was completed in July 2011.
* Patient care provided by Pediatric Nurse Practitioners from the University of Colorado Denver, College of Nursing.
* Services provided include care for minor acute illness, chronic illness, well-child, camp and sports physicals, immunizations, prescriptions, and referrals to other sources of medical care when needed.
* Nominal fees are charged for Clinic services and fees are waived if the family cannot afford to pay.
* Carin' Clinic serves over 800 patients annually.
A mother of several of our patients (initials P.D.) recently wrote this:
"I have been coming to the Carin' Clinic for about 20 years. First with my biological kids. It was wonderful to be able to get great care for them when money was sparse. Now I come with my three littles who are adopted. Having a place close by that takes Medicaid and where the staff understand my kiddos special needs has made it so much easier to provide the best care for them all around. I can't thank all you enough!"
Another parent of a patient said:
"The Carin' Clinic staff is more than a service provider. They're family! DeeDee and Edwina always greet us with a smile (and now Kellie!), the NP's are all caring and I love how attentive and thoughtful they always are! I owe Margo more than I can repay! She saved my baby's life! I love you ladies!"
