CAEE is dedicated to driving excellence, fostering collaboration, and mobilizing support for EE. We support over 800 EE providers to educate and empower Coloradans to make decisions for environmental vitality and quality of life. An investment in CAEE reaches over 800,000 Coloradans.
CAEE's mission is to advance environmental education in Colorado by fostering collaboration, mobilizing support, and driving excellence.
In 1986, a Denver environmental education networking group formed a task force to explore the creation of an allied statewide organization to address the severe need for improved collaboration, communication, and cooperation to avoid duplication and leverage scarce resources among the many organizations involved in environmental education. This organization became known as the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) and by 1988, the task force appointed the first interim CAEE board of directors. In 1989, CAEE officially became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the first CAEE board was elected. During the last 25 years, the organization has grown to include more than 800 members, 150 active volunteers, 3 paid staff, and several well established projects.
"It is invaluable to have a statewide organization like CAEE providing training and professional development, resources, funding opportunities and advocating on behalf of EE - it raises the bar of professionalism and ensures that environmental education can play a significant role in education opportunities for students throughout Colorado."- CAEE Member
