Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County (BGCLC), an affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), is a local organization aiming to help all young people develop the qualities and skills needed to succeed in life through high-quality, affordable, out-of-school programming.
Our goal is to ensure that the youth of Larimer County, no matter their background, can achieve academic success, develop good character and citizenship, and lead healthy lifestyles. While Club services are available to any youth ages 5-18, a large portion of Club members are dealing with difficult circumstances beyond their control. These circumstances include poverty, food insecurity, homelessness, and other inequities for some. The Club provides them with a safe place during hours when youth are most vulnerable and least supervised. This safe environment fosters a sense of confidence and encourages youth to succeed.
While other options are available to youth in Larimer County, BGCLC is the most affordable, comprehensive, facility-based, out-of-school program that includes meals, diverse positive youth development programming, mentoring, and mental health services.
Your donation helps provide a safe, fun, and affordable place for kids and teens to go when they're not in school.
To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
In 1986, the Alternative Youth Center (AYC) opened its doors to youth in Fort Collins. AYC officially became affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 1989, to become Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County. Since then, BGCLC has expanded throughout Larimer County to serve Wellington, Loveland, & Estes Park.
The Wellington Club opened in 1995, and the Loveland Club opened in 1996.
Several years later, in 2014, BGCLC opened a summer-only site in Estes Park. In 2016, the West Loveland & Harmony Village (Fort Collins) Clubs opened.
In 2018, sites were opened at Monroe & Truscott Elementary Schools in Loveland with the help of federal 21st Century Community Learning Center funding.
Throughout 2020, BGCLC opened additional sites when and where it was needed the most in response to the pandemic needs. These included seven additional school-based locations in Loveland in a partnership with the Thompson School District, a year-round site in Estes Park, and several temporary Remote Learning Center sites across the county.
In 2021, BGCLC opened two additional school-based sites in Loveland and one school-based site in Wellington.
As some sites have temporarily merged, BGCLC is serving youth at 15 locations across Larimer County as of today.
