Description

Liturgy that is open to all has remained a primary ministry for Benedictines through the centuries. Mass is celebrated on Sundays at 10:15am.

Due to our concern for our community of sisters, oblates, and others, we respectfully ask that only those who are vaccinated for COVID-19 attend Sunday mass. Due to the surge in the Delta variant, we require that all attendees wear masks while attending Sunday mass.

Description

In this program, we explore the theology, psychology and spirituality of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina and Christian contemplation through the wisdom and writings of Father Thomas Keating, a central figure in the initiation of the Centering Prayer movement.

Centering Prayer is a renewal of an ancient form of Christian prayer. It is a method of consenting to the presence and action of Christ in the stillness of our being. It is an exercise of faith, hope and love, moving beyond conversation with Christ to communion. The fruit of this prayer is a growing sense of God's leading us beyond anxiety into an inner stillness and peace, and outward in compassion and service.

Lectio Divina is a way of praying with Scripture. It is a means of listening to the word of God in Scripture and a traditional way of cultivating friendship with Christ. One listens to the texts of Scripture as if in conversation with Christ, with Christ suggesting the topics of conversation. A daily encounter with Christ and refelction on his word leads beyond mere acquantanceship to friendship, trust, and love. Conversation simplifies and gives way to communing, or "resting" in God.

Description

The Global Online Benedictine Spiritual Direction Program is a two year program designed to meet the needs of individuals in today's world who need flexibility in managing the study aspect of the program. It is a program that is open to all faith traditions. The program profoundly impacts those who wish to deepen their spiritual life and how they relate to others. This transformational path, along with learning the skills needed to be a spiritual director, prepares participants for this call to ministry. We utilize the latest in digital video conferencing to provide students with quality audio and visual interaction. The program is rooted in Benedictine values of hospitality, community, and a contemplative way of being in the world. The cultivation of a compassionate heart through ongoing transformation is the wellspring of this program.
