The Arc Arapahoe & Douglas Counties uses advocacy and education to include all children and adults with disabilities, and their families, in their communities.
The Arc Arapahoe & Douglas Counties has been providing advocacy and support to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families since 1954. This organization originated when parents who had sons and daughters with developmental disabilities developed and submitted Articles of Incorporation to the State of Colorado. We are affiliated with The Arc Colorado and The Arc United States. We continue to work in our community to enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Our core values are People First, Democracy, Visionary, Leadership, Community Participation, Diversity and Integrity and Excellence.
We have received wonderful notes and thank you cards over the year's from many parents and professionals, and would like to share a few:
"Thank you so much for all of your help through this process! We appreciate the help so much! We are very thankful for The Arc!"
"Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with us and share your knowledge and resources. We are excited to learn from you."
"Thank you so much for all of your help. You are always so supportive of our family and make us feel that we are not alone."
"Thank you for joining us at our daughter's meeting. Your support and guidance mean more than we can ever express. Your advocacy for people changes lives and makes the world a better place."
"Having moved from another state I just wanted to make sure goals set with my son's school were challenging and applicable to his needs for adult life. The advocate I met with was very knowledgeable about him and his particular school. I really appreciated her impartial thoughts."
