Your Support Means the World to Our Older Adults

"As a 71-year-old woman who lives alone, I am so grateful for everyone’s assistance. I frequently feel down about not being able to do what I used to do and their help left me feeling very happy that great neighbors gave me "a little help" which is really a big deal."

-An A Little Help Older Adult Member

A Little Help connects neighbors to help older adults thrive.

We rely on support from neighbors like you to bridge the gap between the pay-what-you-can contributions and the foundation and government grants we receive. With your donation we can expand into new neighborhoods and recruit and engage more volunteers, realizing our vision of creating strong, united, intergenerational communities.

Here’s how your donation can make a difference:

$20 = one window washing kit

$50 = yard tool kits for a small team of volunteers to rake, weed, garden

$100 = cost to background check four new volunteers

$500 = activity supplies to assemble “Kindness Kits” for 20 members

$5,000 = supplies for one Service Saturday event, impacting 100 homes

Please support your older neighbors on CO Gives Day!

“ALH has been wonderful for me because I am a widow and do not have family here… I am finding as I age it is harder for me to stay in my house without some outside help… ALH helps us seniors that may not be able to stay in our homes be able to. Our homes are a sanctuary and a safe place for us as we age.”

"It is such comfort to have all of you in our neighborhood. You are helping me stay longer in my home in spite of advancing age. Thanks for helping me hang in there with this non-senior-friendly house."

Giving Activity

Mission

A Little Help is a Colorado nonprofit that connects neighbors to help older adults thrive.

We empower our members to age well in their homes and communities by connecting them with neighbors of all ages who volunteer to perform services and provide companionship. Our volunteers help with tasks like transportation, yard and home chores, handy and technology help, snow shoveling, and care calls, while forging meaningful intergenerational connections.

Data from our 2021 member survey:

· 86% are satisfied or extremely satisfied with services they received

· 96% would recommend ALH to a friend

· 81% feel supported throughout the COVID-19 pandemic

Background Statement

A Little Help began in 2005 when a group of retirees recognized the desire of many older adults in the area to age well in their own homes. These neighbors based their model on the national village movement, where neighbors coordinate and deliver vital services within the community.

In 2007, A Little Help (formerly Washington Park Cares) incorporated as a 501(c)(3) to provide older adults with non-medical services and social supports essential to maintaining active, productive lives.

Since our founding, A Little Help has served well over 5,000 older adults and has engaged more than 10,000 community volunteers in three locations throughout the state: Metro Denver, Northern Colorado, and the Western Slope.

A Little Help's vision for growth is to make our model accessible to all and change what it means to age in Colorado. We are growing throughout the state by establishing sustainable locations that implement our mission, service delivery, programming, and community-building initiatives.
