Community Housing Partners

As an Aurora/Metro-Denver-based non-profit affordable housing provider, we recognize that households often need services beyond lower rents. During these difficult times we're helping to keep residents housed and prevent evictions while seeking to develop more affordable housing in Aurora.

Description

Since 2007, CHP has provided supportive services and case management to ten homeless families for up to two years in our Transitional/Rapid Rehousing Program at Plaza Townhomes. Beginning in 2018, we welcomed these ten families as permanent residents, and we've continued to provide them case management, while expanding services to our other 80 households. We continue to coordinate with Arapahoe-Douglas Works!, Arapahoe County Human Services, and Aurora Mental Health. We are now helping those facing sudden unemployment, urgent medical hardships, and aging issues to prevent evictions. We will also start a reading program for children, and budgeting and other classes for adults.

Evidence of Program's Success

Our ten existing homeless families have become stable and able to pay their own rent in their permanent homes. We have also begun helping their extended family members that are doubled up to find stable housing. Finally, we are identifying and working with other existing residents to prevent evictions by connecting them with services and short-term rental assistance.
