Aging Independently Shouldn’t Mean Going It Alone.
At Aging Resources of Douglas County, we believe no one should age in isolation. Every day, older adults in our community face the difficulties of maintaining independence. With your support, we provide more than just services—we bring connection, dignity, and hope. Through companionship, transportation, chore assistance, and caring guidance, we help our neighbors remain independent and continue living in the homes and communities they love.
"Every day when I think about the challenges I'm dealing with, I think about what you all are doing for me and I feel really grateful. What you have done for me and are doing for me makes a big difference and is really critical, and I want you and everyone there to know that your efforts are appreciated." Gary-ARDC Member
“Aging Resources is the reason I can stay in the home I love.” Meg-ARDC Member
“Use Aging Resources in whatever way they best serve you but definitely use their transportation some. You will love the doors it will open for you PLUS all of the drivers are so friendly and not only listen to your stories but will share some of their own so the trip to and from is often as good as the event you attend.” Leona-ARDC Member
MISSION:
To empower older adults to age with independence!
A message from Executive Director Karie Erickson
Has it really been 17 years since I began working and volunteering with a small program called Neighbor Network? When I started, there were 5 volunteers and 3 clients who received occasional rides in and around Castle Rock. At the time, I saw how this little program could become something much bigger, so in 2014, I found a fiscal sponsor and could legally apply for grants and donations. With some successful grant funding, I was able to hire a couple of staff members, and we really started to expand our services!
Seven years ago we underwent a significant transformation when we rebranded to Aging Resources of Douglas County and became an official 501c3. What started as a personal initiative to help a few residents has now evolved into the county's primary resource for aging services.
We are so proud to server thousands of residents, and after all these years, I still remain inspired to come to work every day! We have gone from six rides a month to 1,000, from three clients to 1,500! With the support our community, we have had meaningful growth and change, but what hasn't changed, is our mission to helping people remain independent and in their homes.
Because isn't that what we all want?
As we look to the year ahead, we will move into a larger location to expand our reach further. The move will allow for new programming, add support groups and hold larger gatherings, all of which have been requested multiple times from the community.
Thank you for your support! It is what makes our mission possible.
With gratitude,
Karie Erickson
