YVSC is a nonprofit organization based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Our work as an organization is to find ways to connect knowledge to actions that build a more sustainable and resilient community. This starts with finding common ground, core values and places of connection, to collaboratively create initiatives that sustain the rich cultural and natural heritage we treasure.
The mission of Yampa Valley Sustainability Council (YVSC) is to serve as a leader, catalyst and resource for building a sustainable and resilient Yampa Valley.
Guided by research and in the service of the community, YVSC develops and promotes actions that sustain our valley’s rich natural and cultural heritage and foster resilience moving forward. Our priority areas provide a range of services and educational opportunities and centralize community outreach and engagement. Our integrated approach to sustainability is defined by the pursuit to identify how the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability challenges lead way to their solutions.
Our five Priority Areas include: Resilient Land and Water, Energy, Transportation, Waste Diversion, and Community Engagement. These Priority Areas address the most pressing sustainability issues facing the Yampa Valley now and foster resilience moving forward.
