Testimonials

"I'm so grateful for the women's Resource Center! The staff is so welcoming, compassionate and knowledgeable. With their help, I've been able to find housing, employment, and scholarship funds to continue my education. There's no stopping me now!"
"I was so lost before I found you guys. When I came to your office I realized that I wasn't alone in my struggles as a single mom, and that there was actually a lot of support in the community that I wasn't aware of. Thank you for hooking me up with food, financial help, and other women who I can now call friends."
"Many thanks to the Women's Resource Center for helping me pay tuition. I thought I was going to have to put my education on hold, but your help allowed me to finish my degree and begin my career. My girls and I have gone from merely surviving to thriving!"

Mission

WRC advocates for the personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of all individuals in La Plata County.

Background Statement

Started in 1987 due to a rising number of single and divorcing women in La Plata County, the Women's Resource Center became "the place to go when you don't know where to go" and continues to house the largest consolidated library of community resources in the area.

The Women's Resource Center advocates for the personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of all individuals in our community, regardless of age, gender or orientation. Our programs include our cornerstone resource and referral program, educational conferences, educational opportunity scholarships, small business assistance and networking activities for women and girls. We serve approximately 1,400 individuals per year through our various programs.

We also work on larger systemic issues such as domestic violence, affordable housing, childcare and health care.
