Summary

Calwood Environmental Education Center staff are safe and their structures have been saved, but the impact of the Calwood fire is real. Calwood's finances were already decimated by COVID program closures resulting in a million dollars in lost revenue. Calwood needs our support now so they can keep core staff employed and repair their property so they can reopen to the public.

Calwood has offered a 5th grade overnight nature experience in the mountains outside Jamestown for decades. This field trip has become a rite of passage for Boulder County youth. Just as important, Calwood is a nationally recognized leader in the movement to increase access to the outdoors for diverse audiences. Each year, their Latino family events expose thousands of Boulder County residents to the mountains for the first time, teaching them skills like camping, fishing, and mountain biking.

Thorne Nature Experience is donating $20,000 to Calwood and we are asking all of our supporters to consider making a donation to Calwood. Our hope is that together we can raise $100,000 to help support Calwood during this time of need.

We cannot let this fire be a nail in the coffin of one of our community's most beloved nonprofits. It will be some time before Calwood can welcome visitors back to their property, and they need our support! Thank you for being generous in their time of need! Together, WE STAND WITH CALWOOD!
