Arvada Police Officer Michael Northey was killed in the line of duty on August 11, 1979. In his honor, the W. Michael Northey Foundation exists to serve officers and their families in times of need, and to help graduating seniors in Arvada start the road to further education.
In the past twelve years, the Foundation has awarded nearly $160,000 in scholarships to deserving students and assisted the families of nearly a dozen officers. We continue giving back to the community that Officer Northey proudly served.

The mission of the W. Michael Northey Foundation is to honor and preserve the memory of Officer Michael Northey by providing financial assistance to officers and their families in times of need and awarding scholarships to graduating seniors in Arvada to further their education.
Arvada patrolman Walter "Mike" Northey was tragically struck and killed in the line of duty early the morning of August 11, 1979. In his honor, the W. Michael Northey Foundation was created to financially assist the families of our Colorado Officers who lost their lives while on duty protecting and serving our communities and to help graduating seniors in Arvada start the road to further their education.
