$15,000 Goal

All donations will help support the operation of Vintage Theatre. Donations are especially needed this year as we are looking to do major building maintenance and renovation.

Our roof needs to be replaced as soon as possible. We have been moving forward with patching the leaks, but it's time to replace the whole thing. We don't want to drip on the audience! Or on the lighting equipment!!

Additionally, we are hoping to raise the rake (the angle of the seats in the audience) in the Nickelson Auditorium so that patrons can see the stage more easily from any seat in the house.

These two projects will make the theatrical experience better and safer for all our patrons, but will take a bit a cash that we do not have on hand at the moment. We would love for you to help us toward that goal!!

Here are a few recent testimonials:

"Have been going to Vintage Theatre performances for several years. It is an absolute gem! Each performance has been a delight and absolutely professionally done. The atmosphere in either of its two theaters is excellent. The staff is first rate, friendly and helpful. We only wished we had discovered the Vintage years earlier!" Google, 2022

"I walked away thinking I didn't pay enough for the ticket.  The theater was so intimate.  I had great seats in the front row.  The cast did a fantastic job.   Everyone poured their hearts into it.  I can't wait to see what else they have in stock!" Google, 2022

"This is a great small venue. The people are friendly and it makes the atmosphere wonderful. The shows are totally great. The actors come out and are always so welcoming.  Everyone should have this experience." Google, 2022

"This is a true hidden gem! I had the best time ever watching Shakespeare in Love and can't wait to go back for another show. Can't believe it was my first time at Vintage Theatre but better late than never. It's a very intimate venue so you get to fully experience all the raw emotions. Even though it was my first time there, I've heard really wonderful things about it and that they always do an outstanding job with production of various shows and events.
Their bar area is really nice as well, and the staff is very attentive. Overall, I can't recommend it enough! It's so important to support theatre as it gives you some genuinely amazing one of a kind experiences!" Yelp, 2022

"Someone else wrote that this theater is hidden gem. And it truly is. What a great space. I had never been before coming to see the show Drowsy Chaperone last night. Walking in the theater it's super cute and has a small stage in the front for cabaret and small shows. There's a bar and two theaters in the space, one bigger than the other. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The talent that this little theater is putting out is astonishing. The show was incredible. I cried at the end. I didn't think such a small theater had that much quality on the stage. It was just wonderful. I can't wait to see another show here." Yelp, 2022

"Vintage Theater consistently performs outstanding theater showcasing local talent. The facility is excellent, intimate and really has no "bad" seats. The full service bar is also outstanding and creates "special" drinks for based on something from each show." TripAdvisor, 2020

Mission

Vintage Theatre creates genuine connection and strengthens our community by telling engaging and timeless stories.

Background Statement

Vintage Theatre was founded in 2001 with the mission of presenting classic and cutting-edge live theater that challenges, delights, and entertains our audiences with diverse and high-quality productions. We produce Broadway favorites, regional premieres, intimate dramas, and off-beat comedies.

Our guiding principles are to "allow any actor the chance to be cast in any production, to successfully mount large and challenging productions with limited resources on smaller-sized stages, and to present diverse work in intimate settings so that patrons can experience the themes of that work on a more personal level."

Vintage began as a touring company before gaining 501(c)(3) status in 2006 and secured permanent residence in the Aurora Cultural Arts District in 2012 at 1468 Dayton. The building had been an auto mechanic shop and was converted into a theatre by Jeffrey Nickelson for Shadow Theatre Company.

12 years later, we have completed the purchase of the building from the City of Aurora and have certified that it will be a performing arts space for the next 20 years. We are an anchor organization within the district, serving as a destination place for visitors and a stable member of the ACAD community.

We have 3 distinct performance spaces:

• Jeffrey Nickelson Auditorium - 135 seats

• Bond Trimble Theatre - 60 seats

• Cabaret Stage & Lobby Bar - 50 seats

Vintage has produced over 160 productions in its 24 years. We showcase 8-10 mainstage productions each year, and approximately 40 additional performances on our Cabaret stage. Additionally, we provide space for local artists and other arts and theatre companies without a home to present their work.

Vintage maintains diverse programming and casting, and provides educational opportunities and touring shows for youth and adults. We actively explore ways to bring theatre to people who are not able to easily access live theatre.
