In 2010, I found myself unhealthy, mentally, physically.

I was fortunate to be pointed to a great book called Born to Run. I was interested in running, inspired by many friends, and began reading the book on a long flight. And read the entire book.

The chapters on the Leadville 100 were amazing; the grit, determination, and toughness of the people who accepted and conquered the seemingly impossible challenge was especially inspiring.

I was 200 pounds and living an unhealthy life. I walked off that plane determined to take action. And unlike many times before, I did.

In the years since, I have utterly changed my life. I went from landing on that plane, not being able to run a 10K, to a complete transformation as I begin 2019.

In 2015, my life as a reborn runner crescendo-ed to standing in downtown Leadville, in the best shape of my life, at 4 am, beginning my next 24 hours to the sound of a shotgun.

24 hours later, I crossed the finish line in the dead of night, with my two sons. I had completed the race that I read on a page in a book, as impossible.

I have now completed dozens of Ultra's, may in Leadville and am the proud owner of a prized big buckle.

Giving back to provide support of the amazing Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation, who support the youth of Lake County is an amazing way to do that. Leadville changed my life forever. I consider Leadville my second home. The people involved are extended family in my heart. And I am forever grateful to them.

In 2019, I have the opportunity to give back. Please find in in your heart to give a small amount. My goal is to raise 20 dollars for every mile I run this year.

For every step, mile and challenge, I ask for a small donation, so I can give back to the amazing family in Leadville
