Started in 2013 by 24 generous founders, TinkerMill has quickly become the largest makerspace in Colorado and the surrounding Rocky Mountain region with more than 500 paying members and more than 4,500 active members in our Meetup group. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity whose exceptionally talented membership provides a community workshop supporting each other and other community entities by learning, teaching, collaborating and creating. We are deeply involved in Longmont's economic development efforts and encourage new product and business creation through mentoring and onsite office and workshop space. We are leaders in our community and powerful advocates for entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
TinkerMill is an important resource and catalyst for economic development in Longmont, and in Colorado. The Advance Longmont economic development strategy has identified many of Colorado's Advanced Industries -Aerospace, Electronics, Technology & Information, Advanced Manufacturing, Bioscience, and Infrastructure Engineering - as strategic targets for business relocation, expansion, and new business creation, supporting and encouraging development Colorado's Advanced Industries ecosystem. TinkerMill provides critical R&D, workforce development, and education resources to companies in these industries. Additionally, TinkerMill has been an asset in attracting new businesses, innovators, and investment in these industries to Colorado from across the country. - Jessica Erickson, CEO, Longmont Economic Development Partnership
