Giving Activity

Mission

The Colorado Choir enriches our community and promotes joy and appreciation of choral literature. Through a series of annual concerts and related events, The Colorado Choir shares a diverse repertoire of choral music intended to further the musical training of its members, to demonstrate our passion for music and thus inspire, educate and entertain our audiences.

Background Statement

The Colorado Choir and Chorus Organization was founded in 1976 by Randolph "Casey" Jones, who at that time was Director of the Adams State College Choir in Alamosa, Colorado.

The choir is primarily an a cappella ensemble, but it does perform accompanied works, as well as occasional major works with orchestra. Membership varies between 60-70 musicians who perform 6 major concerts in December, March and May.

In its early history, The Colorado Choir performed over 50 concerts with the Denver Symphony Orchestra, and in 2001 it realized the millennium celebration performance of its American premiere of the Requiem of Reconciliation.

After 33 years of conducting inspiring choral music and the production of eight CD's, Casey retired in 2009. He was succeeded by Ms. Kelly Parmenter, one of his former students, and a member and soloist of the choir since 1980.

Since assuming leadership in 2009, Kelly has led the group to sing with The Denver Brass and the Arapahoe High School Concert Choir, Heritage High School Concert Choir, The Denver Zoo Lights and Denver Blossom Of Lights at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
