Every day Tepeyac works to make it easier for our entire community to receive the kind of inclusive and comprehensive care everyone should expect to have, meeting each of us right where we are, with love, compassion, and humility. Regardless of one's ability to pay, culture, or language, all individuals have a right to quality health care and to be treated with dignity and respect.

Testimonials

In June of 2022, our Dental Team had just finished up their school dental visits for the year. On the Spring visits alone the Dental Team saw approximately 110 kids in about 5 days at two schools.

A note from our Dental Team:

Something wonderful that we noted this semester is that the kids remembered us from the Fall and most who had anxiety or required a lot of patient management were actually excited to see us this time!

One little girl in particular, a 3-year-old in the ECE program, wouldn’t even open her mouth for the Dental Team in the Fall. We couldn’t do an exam without her getting very upset. Instead, we showed her our equipment and demonstrated brushing and flossing on our dinosaur model. Fast forward to our spring visit and this same little girl, jumped into our dental chair and said, “Mira mis dientes!” with a huge smile on her face. She remembered us from the Fall and said she had been working on brushing at home. Even though we weren’t able to complete the procedures we hoped to do with her in the Fall, we were patient and, as a result, made a positive impact on her—she was more than ready to see us 6 months later!

Finally, I'd like to share with you the story of two of Tepeyac's patients, Marco and Irma.

Mission

Tepeyac Community Health Center's mission is to inspire health, wellbeing, and humanity in our community through all of life's stages.

We envision a healthy community with access to regular and ongoing health care. As we expand our reach and bring cultural responsiveness into the community, we strive for exceptional, trustworthy care that empowers our patients, decreases routine visits to emergency rooms, and creates healthier families overall.

Background Statement

In 1994, parishioners of a church in north Denver noticed a growing number of working families lacked insurance and were going without basic health care services. Community members secured funding to conduct a needs assessment, which confirmed that a large percentage of the predominantly Latino community lacked health insurance, were more likely to delay seeking medical care until there was an emergency or the onset of serious illness, and were more likely to be at risk of preventable illnesses. Individuals and families from the community gave their time-wielding hammers and saws, and laying bricks by hand to transform a two bedroom bungalow next to the church into a community clinic.

Today, Tepeyac is a federally qualified health center that that continues to provide culturally responsive, accessible health services for families and individuals across more than 60 zip codes in Metro Denver. In February 2023, we moved into our new medical home on 48th and Vine, allowing us to triple the amount of patients served by 2030.
