Testimonials

Nothing tells the story better than testimonials about how we make a difference in our senior's lives:
A client expresses her satisfaction with the following statement: TSC is an essential service to the seniors of Teller County, I do not know what I would have done without them these past few years. They took me grocery shopping, to medical appointments, and to Walmart.
They helped me go to Colorado Springs for medical appointments. They are so reliable and accommodating in meeting my travel needs. I never ran out of groceries or suffered illness because of their dedication to meet my needs.

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of the Teller Senior Coalition is to provide services to Teller County senior citizens to enable them to live healthy, active and independent lives.

Background Statement

The Teller Senior Coalition (TSC) was organized in 1996 when the Teller County Commissioners discontinued senior services. Since then, TSC has provided essential services to Teller County seniors for over 25 years. We have grown from two employees to over 15. We are the main provider of senior transportation in Teller County. Our services make it possible for seniors to live independently at home and to remain active members of our community as long as possible. We do not charge a fee for most of the services we provide but suggest donations to offset our costs. No one is denied service due their inability to make a donation.

Our services include transportation, nutrition support, respite care for caregivers, homemaking services, safety related handyman repairs and volunteers helping with snow shoveling, yard work and minor home repairs. Our Case Managers meet with seniors, assess their needs and make referrals to the appropriate support agency. We also hold social activities to provide interaction and fun, so seniors do not feel isolated. Support for our veterans and legal assistance is also available through TSC. Many of our clients live in outlying rural areas and either don't drive or drive minimally. One of the greatest risks to senior citizens in these rural areas is that they will lose access to basic goods and services in the communities in which they live. Additionally, we provide some transportation to those age 18 to 60.
