Established in 1966, we are dedicated to the discovery, preservation, interpretation, and exhibition of the rich heritage and history of Summit County. We are active in gathering information about the natural landscape, the human settlement patterns, and economic development of the area.

Carly Griffith, Office Adminstrator
Start Date: 2019

Carly Griffith graduated from CU Boulder with a degree in religious studies. She is a wife, mother of two energetic boys, and a Coloradan. She finds the stories of history, like so many others, fascinating and she is excited about joining the 1883 Dillon Schoolhouse team in collecting, preserving, and equitably sharing the multitudinous stories of our diverse Summit County heritage.

Christy Nelson, Education Administrator
Start Date: 2014

Ms. Nelson has been the sole administrator for the Society and for the Schoolhouse/Museum for the past several years. She has a background in elementary education having taught both in Colorado and abroad. She was a corporate trainer for Motorola and delivered classes in history and culture at the Corporate Museum. Future goals are to develop educational programming with the Museum Administrator for the Schoolhouse.
