Background Statement

SELAH was established in 2000 to meet the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental needs of clients who face a wide range of issues related to pregnancy, sexual integrity and healthy relationships. SELAH offers resources to the Steamboat Springs community and surrounding Routt County, as well as clients from Moffat, Jackson and Grand Counties.

In addition to factual information given to each client about all stages of pregnancy and childbirth, into the initial stages of parenting, staff members explore every facet of the client's experience. This holistic approach differentiates SELAH from other agencies in Routt County. SELAH provides an opportunity for clients to process their decisions comprehensively, considering their physical and spiritual backgrounds, as well as mental and emotional needs. By acknowledging clients' spiritual backgrounds, at their discretion, alongside other personal components, we encourage them to hold every aspect of their lives in balance as they evaluate complex situations.

In over seven years as CEO, Melinda Clark had moved SELAH to a new facility with expanded educational, counseling and medical space and established its presence as a financially stable, well-respected community agency. SELAH met the requirements to join CareNet, a national professional affiliation of pregnancy centers, that includes legal and financial reviews. SELAH is an affiliate of National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), a law firm that specializes in legal counsel and risk management for pregnancy medical clinics, and the Evangelical Council on Financial Accountability (ECFA) that monitors a stringent set of standards for board governance and financial processes.

SELAH has seen a few transitions of Directors over the past few years and now Rachel Fleming sits as Director. SELAH was not offering medical services for clients from 2020-Summer 2022 but are once again able to offer these FREE of charge.
