Background Statement
At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home—a place where families can gather, dream, and grow together.

A home is so much more than four walls and a roof. It’s the foundation for hope and opportunity, a space where children can thrive and parents can plan for the future. By partnering with families to build affordable homes, we help remove the barriers that stand between them and a healthier, more secure life. Each house built is a promise of new beginnings—and every volunteer and donor helps turn that promise into reality.

Since 1988, Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley has been offering a “hand up, not a handout.” Families are selected based on their need for housing, their willingness to partner, and their ability to repay an affordable mortgage. Each homeowner invests up to 500 hours of sweat equity, participates in homeownership education, and makes affordable monthly payments. Those payments are then reinvested to help build even more homes—creating a beautiful cycle of hope and community.

Our mission reaches beyond our own neighborhoods. Through our tithe program, St. Vrain Habitat proudly supports homebuilding efforts across the globe, currently partnering with Habitat affiliates in Nepal, Jordan, Lesotho, and Bolivia. Together, we’re building not just houses, but a world where everyone has a place to call home.
