Background Statement

Originally founded by the Sisters of the Order of St. Anne in 1931 as a convalescent home for children suffering from tuberculosis and polio, St. Anne's Episcopal School (SAES) opened as a school in Denver, Colorado, in 1950. From those humble beginnings, the school has grown into a premier PS-8 independent, coeducational day school with more than 425 students currently enrolled. Its mission is to "educate minds, enrich hearts and expand horizons." Students are provided with well-balanced, state-of-the-art programs in academics, athletics and the arts. Additionally, an extraordinary emphasis is placed on character development and ethical decision making through the school's unique history and heritage and an array of programs and activities. These activities and relationships occur on a beautiful, garden-filled, 7.5-acre Denver campus and a scenic, 15.5-acre experiential facility in the foothills outside the city. Financial support comes primarily from tuition and fees, investment income and generous donor contributions.
