We are a public, free charter school in Durango, Colorado. We offer a rigorous, personalized college preparatory curriculum that is engaging and meaningful. We deliver our curriculum through projects. That means that our students have the opportunity to apply their learning through relevant, real-world experiences. We have based our school off of a wildly popular and successful model from California called High Tech High. Together we are accomplishing great things! At Animas High School, we use our Habits of Heart and Mind to help foster our Culture of Excellence. It is how we go about solving problems, interacting and collaborating with each other. Habits of Heart and Mind give teachers and students a common language to help them deepen their thinking and relationships with each other. We encourage all members of our community to use these mental processing techniques, and reinforce them to the point where they become "habits." Habits of Heart and Mind at Animas High School include: Perspective-Have a point of view; respect and understand the points of view of others. Take a stand, but be willing to listen to other ideas than your own. Advocacy-When you need help, or when you don't understand, ask questions. When you can't connect to a project, schedule a meeting with a teacher. Advocate for your classmates, for your community, for your planet. Perseverance- Don't give up. Learn to work through difficulty. Evidence-Use it to back up your perspective. Require it from others who make claims. Make decisions based on it. Refinement-Take pride in everything you do in class and make it beautiful, whether you are reading, writing, speaking, or creating.
Third-party vendors charge credit card and electronic check processing fees when you make an online donation. Two percent of each donation helps to cover these fees and ensures the program's long-term sustainability. The two percent processing fee is one of the lowest processing fees in the country.
You will automatically receive an on-screen acknowledgement letter and an e-mailed copy for your donation. Every donation is tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the full extent permitted by law. If you make a donation to a charity that offers Child Care or Enterprise Zone credits (additional Colorado state tax credits), Community First Foundation will acknowledge that your donation was processed successfully, but the charity will issue you an additional receipt pursuant to that. To learn more about these tax credits, contact the specific nonprofits.
Thank you for Donating through ColoradoGives.org: ColoradoGives.org partners with local nonprofits to facilitate online giving. Nonprofits trust us to process their online donations because of our low processing fees, security and other great things. We do this because we're a nonprofit, too!
