What is Colorado Gives Day?
Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. For the eighth year, Community First Foundation and FirstBank are partnering to present Colorado Gives Day. Donations are accepted through ColoradoGives.org. You can share your giving on the day, or the day itself with these fun social media graphics.
When is Colorado Gives Day 2017?

What is ColoradoGives.org?
It is a year-round, online giving website featuring more than 2,000 Colorado nonprofit organizations. Made possible by Community First Foundation, ColoradoGives.org encourages charitable giving by providing comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about Colorado nonprofits and an easy way to support them online.
How can Colorado nonprofits participate?
ColoradoGives.org serves as the platform for donors to learn about participating nonprofits and make online donations. To participate, nonprofits must be eligible with approved profiles on the site.

Must I use ColoradoGives.org to make my donations on Colorado Gives Day?
Yes, ColoradoGives.org is the official online donation website for Colorado Gives Day. When you use the site to donate to participating nonprofits, your donation will be boosted by the $1 Million Incentive Fund and count towards prizes for nonprofits.
Note for Nonprofits: If a donor gives a donation to your organization by check or provides you with their credit card information, nonprofit staff may NOT enter the payment info into ColoradoGives.org. This violates the Terms of Service agreed to by all site participants and may lead to removal from the site. In addition, for a donation to qualify for incentives and prizes, it must be made directly through the site by the donor.
How do I make a donation on ColoradoGives.org?

1. From most pages on the site, you can search for nonprofits by name, keyword, cause, city or zip code. It is also possible to search for ColoradoGives Fundraising Pages that benefit specific nonprofits. You can further filter your search results by a status (e.g., how recently they joined the site or how close to goal they are), region, or alphabetical listing.
2. After selecting a nonprofit or fundraising page, select "Donate Now" from their profile and complete the checkout process.
Note: You can make one-time donations as a guest and need not create an account.
What is the benefit of creating a donor account on ColoradoGives.org?
A free donor account allows you to enjoy the following advanced features:
1. View a history of your donations and resend yourself copies of your acknowledgement letters
2. Setup and manage recurring donations
3. Create a "My Favorites" list
4. Create Fundraising Pages for your favorite nonprofits
5. Keep track of Giving eCards you've purchased or received
6. Give to your favorite nonprofits easily and quickly
What methods of payments can I use?

Note to Donors: You cannot make donations using stock gifts, donor advised funds held outside of Community First Foundation, PayPal, or a private/family foundation.
What is the minimum donation?
Is there a maximum donation amount?
No, but donations of $100,000 or more must be conducted as wire transfers.

I can't remember my donor account password. What should I do?
1. Click "Log In" at the top of website.
2. Under the Donor Account Login section, click "Forgot Password?".
2. On the Reset Password pop-up, enter the email associated with your donor account and then click the “Reset Password” button. (Please note that if you have pop-ups blocked, you may not see this and may need to allow pop-ups through your browser).
3. When you do this, one of two things will happen:
- If you've set your security questions and answers, you will be asked two of these questions. If your answers are correct, you will be prompted to reset your password immediately. If both answers are incorrect after five succesive attempts, you will be sent an email with a link to reset the password. If you do not see the email with the link in your inbox, be sure to check your spam/junk boxes or Promotions tab in Gmail.
- If you have NOT set security questions and answers, an email will be sent to the donor account email in our system with a link to reset your password. If you do not see the email with the link in your inbox, be sure to check your spam/junk boxes or Promotions tab in Gmail.
Are there any fees for making donations through ColoradoGives.org?
Third-party vendors charge credit card and electronic check processing fees when donors make online gifts to nonprofit organizations. Two percent of each donation helps to cover these fees and ensures the program's long-term sustainability. The two percent third-party processing fee is one of the lowest in the country and the most cost effective way to fundraise online. We are happy we can make this program available to Colorado nonprofits without any set-up charges or monthly maintenance fees. This fee applies year-round, including Colorado Gives Day
What is a recurring donation?
A recurring donation is a feature that allows donors to make automated, online donations to a nonprofit on a regular schedule. Donors can set up daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual recurring donations for a specific dollar amount. However, only the single payment scheduled for December 5, 2017 (Colorado Gives Day) associated with an on-going recurring donation will qualify for a boost from the $1 Million Incentive Fund.
Can I schedule my donations in advance?
A scheduled one-time donation uses the recurring donation feature explained above. However, in this case, only a single donation payment will occur on Colorado Gives Day, December 5, 2017 and no prior or additional payments are made. Note: This feature will be available November 1, 2017.
How do I schedule my Colorado Gives Day donations?
1. Search for a nonprofit or fundraising page on ColoradoGives.org.
2. Click the orange "Donate" button on their search result listing.
3. Enter or select the amount you want to donate.
4. Under Donation Type, click the button "CO GIVES DAY". Enter the details of your donation, and click "Add to Cart."
5. To donate to more than one organization, click "add more nonprofits to cart" on the next page and keep going! When all your scheduled donations are in the cart, continue checking out by logging in or creating a donor account, entering your payment information, and then pressing submit. You will need to click the "CO GIVES DAY" button for each donation you want to schedule for Colorado Gives Day.
Note to Donors: Donations placed in your cart are only stored if you are logged into your donor account. If you are not logged into your donor account before you close the tab or browser, the donations in the cart will be removed. Also, if there has been no activity on the site for two hours and you are not logged into your donor account, then the donations will be removed from your cart.
Note to Nonprofits: Scheduled, one-time donations for Colorado Gives Day 2017, will qualify for a boost from the $1 Million Incentive Fund and count toward the prize tally if they process successfully on December 5, 2017. Please note that scheduled donations will not be reflected on fundraising page tallies until Colorado Gives Day.
Why does my credit card receipt say "Cmty FirstFdn/ColoradoGives or CoGivesDay/ColoradoGives" in the merchant section rather than the organization to which I donated?
This is because Community First Foundation manages ColoradoGives.org, the website used to process online donations. Your donation first goes to the Foundation via ColoradoGives.org. After processing the donation, the Foundation then grants your donation to the nonprofit less the two percent third-party processing fee. This allows the Foundation to issue you an acknowledgement letter immediately upon completion of your transaction.
Can I use the acknowledgement letter as a tax receipt?
If you are donating to an organization that qualifies for Enterprise Zone or Child Care tax credits, they are your contact for tax receipt information. Otherwise, you can use the acknowledgement letter as a tax receipt for the donations noted. The acknowledgment letter lists the donations for which it serves as a tax receipt and which it does not.
How do I search for nonprofits?
From most pages on the site, you can search for charities by organization name, keyword, cause, city or zip code. It is also possible to search for ColoradoGives Fundraising Pages that benefit specific nonprofits. You can further filter your search results by status (e.g., how recently a nonprofit joined), region, or alphabetical listing. After searching, learn more about an organization's mission, programs, financials, and more by clicking on the search results widget or the "Learn More" link. You can then choose to donate or continue searching.
What if I can't find my favorite nonprofit?
Direct them to this page to learn about eligibility requirements and enrollment. Enrollment for new nonprofits began March 1 and ends July 31, 2017. August 1, interested nonprofits will have the opportunity to learn about enrolling for ColoradoGives.org in March 2018.
Can I donate to multiple charities at one time?
Yes. After entering donation information for one organization, press "Add to Cart". Then click "Add More Nonprofits to Cart". When you are finished, press "Checkout" to continue the donation process. The cart holds your selections while you explore more nonprofits. Please note, however, that donations placed in your cart are only stored if you are logged into your donor account. If you are not logged into your donor account before you close the tab or your browser, the donations in the cart will be removed. Also, if there has been no activity on the site for two hours and you are not logged into your donor account, then the donations will be removed from your cart.
Can I use my employer's matching gifts program?
Yes. Please ask your employer to send the matching funds directly to the nonprofit(s) you are supporting and not to Community First Foundation.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. All donations made to the 501(c)(3) charities featured on ColoradoGives.org are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law. After making a donation, you will automatically receive an on-screen acknowledgment letter. A copy of that letter will also be emailed to you.
If you create a ColoradoGives account, these letters will be saved in your donation history. If you've donated to multiple nonprofits in one transaction, you will receive one receipt reflecting the total donated.
If you are donating to an organization that qualifies for Enterprise Zone or Child Care tax credits, they are your contact for tax receipt information. Otherwise, you can use the acknowledgment letter we provide for your tax records. The acknowledgment letter lists the donations for which it serves as a tax receipt and which it does not.
How and when will nonprofits receive their Colorado Gives Day donations?
Nonprofits will receive their Colorado Gives Day donations and proportionate share of the incentive fund in a single disbursement before the end of December 2017. Like all disbursements for donations through ColoradoGives.org, the money will be electronically transferred to your designated bank account. A notification by email will be sent to the Monthly Disbursement Contact listed on your profile. It will note the amount and how to pull the corresponding donation report.
The amount my nonprofit expected based on the donation emails does not match the donation report or disbursement; what's going on?
Although nonprofits receive real-time emails announcing a donation to your organization via ColoradoGives.org, please be aware that a donation can be revoked for a variety of reasons from the time of receipt to the time of disbursement. Therefore, donation reports cannot be considered final until your nonprofit receives the email notification about the disbursement.
If a donation is returned and needs to be canceled in ColoradoGives.org before the money has been disbursed, your organization will be copied on the email to the donor that notifies him/her that the donation was returned by the bank (unless the donor has elected to be completely anonymous). As a general rule, donations through ColoradoGives.org cannot be considered final until Community First Foundation distributes the money.
What are Fundraising Pages and how do I search for them?
Many nonprofits ask their supporters to campaign on their behalf for Colorado Gives Day (and other times of the year) by using the free feature on ColoradoGives.org called Fundraising Pages. These are web pages supporters create on the site to raise money for a participating nonprofit. To find a fundraising page and make a donation,
Note: To qualify for Colorado Gives Day and a boost from the Incentive Fund, donations must be made through the Fundraising Page on December 5 (Colorado Gives Day) or scheduled for that day. Scheduled donations will not be reflected on Fundraising Page tallies until Colorado Gives Day.
Will an incentive fund boost donations on Colorado Gives Day this year?
Yes! Community First Foundation and FirstBank each contributed $500,000 to create a $1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest in the country! It increases the value of every donation proportionally.
Here's an example of how it works: If a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total amount of money raised on Colorado Gives Day, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund.
How will Community First Foundation calculate each nonprofit's share of the incentive fund?
At the completion of Colorado Gives Day, the Foundation will determine each nonprofit's proportionate share of the fund by dividing the total amount each charity raised by the total amount raised by all participating nonprofits. This amount will then be multiplied by the total amount of dollars in the Incentive Fund.
Incentive Fund Formula:
Example 1: Individual Charity's Amount Raised ($10,000) divided by the Total Amount Raised on CO Gives Day ($10,000,000) x Total Amount in Incentive Fund ($1,000,000) = Individual Charity's Share of Incentive Fund ($1,000*)
Example 2: Let's say $10,000,000 is raised on Colorado Gives Day in total. If a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total amount of donations on Colorado Gives Day (i.e., $1,000,000), that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund (i.e., $100,000*).
* All numbers with the exception of the Incentive Fund amount presented in the examples are hypothetical.
What does a "proportionate share" of the incentive fund mean?
It means that each nonprofit will receive the same amount per dollar for donations received through ColoradoGives.org on December 5. In other words, if a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total amount of money raised on Colorado Gives Day, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund.
Is the incentive a race?
No. Each donation received during the 24 hour period starting at 12 a.m. (00:00 MST) on December 5 will receive a proportionate share of the $1 Million Incentive Fund. It does not matter what time of day donations are received.
Will the use of a Giving eCard on December 5th be eligible for the incentive fund boost or prizes?

FACEBOOK TRIVIA PRIZES
What are "Facebook Trivia Prizes"?
FirstBank is awarding 10 prizes worth $2,000 each in the Facebook Trivia category. When a name is drawn among individuals answering trivia questions correctly on FirstBank’s Facebook page at facebook.com/efirstbank. Each trivia winner will choose a nonprofit profiled on ColoradoGives.org to receive the cash prize.
When will the trivia contest take place?
Trivia questions will be posted on FirstBanks’s Facebook page two times per day (10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.) from Monday, November 27 – Friday, December 1.
How do I play?
Go to facebook.com/efirstbank and look for an open trivia post. To answer the trivia question, post a comment with your answer and mention (or tag) the ColoradoGives.org nonprofit you’re playing for.
How many times can I play?
For each trivia question we accept one answer per person, but different people can name the same nonprofit.
Can a nonprofit be chosen to receive a cash prize more than once?
No. In order to spread the joy of winning, a nonprofit can be selected only one time during the five-day contest.
How do you select a winner?
For each trivia question, winners will be drawn among all comments with a correct answer and a nonprofit featured on ColoradoGives.org. To retain anonymity, we share only the first name and last initial of winners publicly. If a winner wishes to remain anonymous, we will simply state “anonymous” in public announcements.
When will you announce the winners?
FirstBank will strive to announce each winner and his/her chosen nonprofit within two hours after each question is posted.
When will the chosen nonprofits receive their cash prizes?
The prize money will be distributed to winning nonprofits in their December disbursement which is sent by January 24, 2018.
What are Rally prizes?
FirstBank is offering 15 prizes worth $1,000 for locations that hold rallies to kick off Colorado Gives Day. Five prizes will be selected from a random drawing of organizations attending the Rally at the State Capitol in downtown Denver on November
The remaining prizes will be available for rallies around the state.
When will you annouce prize winners?
Winners will be announced the same day a rally takes place and prizes will be distributed to winning nonprofits in their December disbursement which is sent in January 24, 2018.

What is the grand prize?
New this year, FirstBank is awarding one enormous prize worth $25,000!
How is the grand prize winner selected?
On December 15, 2017, FirstBank will draw one organization’s name from a cash-blowing machine. A nonprofit is automatically entered into the drawing if it receives 10 or more donations on Colorado Gives Day (December 5). Donations made on December 5, or scheduled to process on December 5, qualify. Donors can schedule donations on ColoradoGives.org between November 1 and December 4, 2017.
How can I find out who wins the prize?
FirstBank will be broadcasting the grand prize drawing live via their Facebook page and will call the winner.
*Please note that the final determination of prizes will be made at the discretion of Community First Foundation. Anyone can participate except for Community First Foundation employees and immediate family members.
