Your donation helps further our mission to permanently protect lands with significant agricultural, wildlife habitat, open space, recreational or historical values. Over nearly 30 years, we have conserved 30,000 acres of land and water resources essential to your Southwest Colorado way of life.
La Plata Open Space Conservancy's mission is to permanently protect open lands that have significant agricultural, wildlife habitat, open space, recreational and/or historical/archaeological resources, for the benefit of the community and the general public.
Since its incorporation in 1992 as a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization, La Plata Open Space Conservancy - a Durango-based land trust - has used conservation easements to permanently protect, for the benefit of the community and the general public, Southwest Colorado's most cherished working, open space, recreation, and historic lands, and those lands' water resources. By creating and stewarding conservation easements, Conservancy has permanently protected over 30,000 acres of land in Archuleta, southern Hinsdale, La Plata, eastern Montezuma, southern Ouray, and San Juan Counties.
