Our vision is to make the greater Colorado Springs area the best in the nation to age! For over 50 years, our services to provide aging adults the assistance they need to live how they wish has assisted more than 500,000 seniors and their families in El Paso County. Silver Key makes seniors' lives better! The generation that took care of us now needs our collective help, and your donation helps ensure a bright future for us all.

Background Statement

Silver Key was created in 1970 by a group of conscientious people who wished to improve the quality of life for elderly folks living in nursing homes. Silver Key officially opened their doors in October 1971 with grant monies from the Older American Act, which initially provided funding for one staff member. From these humble beginnings, a one-room office was opened and a Nursing Home Volunteer Program was established which supported 19 care facilities. The primary goal of this new Volunteer Program was to mitigate the effects of isolation and loneliness for elderly persons living in local care facilities. It was not long before Silver Key felt a need to broaden its mission to include seniors who desired to remain in their homes as they aged. Today, Silver Key annually assists more than 11,000 aging adults in the greater Colorado Springs area from our southeast Colorado Springs campus and through our core programs of Health & Wellness (including Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Emergency Assistance, Resource Navigation, Companionship, Guardianship, Food Pantry) plus Reserve & Ride transportation and Nutrition including Meals on Wheels, Home Delivered Meals, Connections Cafes and Reassurance +. For many older adults, the ability to age well in place is a common challenge. In fact, many older adults living on low, fixed incomes have to make difficult daily choices between food, medicine, housing and transportation. Thousands of seniors in the Pikes Peak region are hungry, lonely and socially isolated - preventing many older adults from living the purpose-filled lives they desire. Fortunately, Silver Key provides essential core services to help to alleviate

isolation and provide help with nutrition needs, housing, transportation, emergency assistance, companionship and more.
