Our mission is to provide affordable housing organizations and nonprofits with real estate expertise, funding, and preservation.
Our Vision: Real estate philanthropy will empower nonprofits and expand affordable housing options.
Founded in 2015, Sharing Connexion began with a concept to use proven real estate industry skills and resources to empower and support the nonprofit industry in Colorado. The founder and board president, Ed Anderson, established and remains the Chief Executive Officer for a for-profit real estate investment firm, Connexion Asset Group (CAG). Other real estate professionals with extensive experience and complimentary desire to give back with their expertise and skills joined the board of directors and advisory board. The board focused on identifying and assisting with real estate solutions for charitable organizations, especially affordable housing organizations and determined that Sharing Connexion exists to provide real estate resources, solutions and support to nonprofits and affordable housing organizations.
We built out our programming model focusing on Real Estate Impact, Real Estate Rescue, and Real Estate Donations, running pilots for our programs. In 2016, we made our first real estate impact loan. In 2018, we launched our first partnership projects under the Real Estate Donation program and the Real Estate Rescue program. All pilot programs are now complete, proving their viability, their community impact, and their replicability for other projects. Now, we have completed multiple Real Estate Donation projects, completed our second Real Estate Impact loan, and we are now in our second Real Estate Rescue program. These programs are strong, unique, and sorely needed in our current real estate landscape.
Since its founding, the organization was volunteer run, but in early 2019, we hired our first staff, an Operations Director, and launched new communications and marketing outlining our programs. In 2019 through 2021, we have completed numerous projects. We continue to hear about the overwhelming need for our services and demand continues to increase with a large pipeline of projects for the coming months. Sharing Connexion is now in scaling mode. We are hiring additional staff to increase capacity and have big strategic plans for our future. We also have goals to strengthen our organization including work on DEI, accessibility and community development, and listening to constituents and evaluating impact. We are building a strong foundation so that as we scale, we are a healthy organization doing truly charitable work within our Colorado community and beyond.
"The help we received from Sharing Connexion has allowed us to continue to stay in the facility and neighborhood of our choice, where we have been relationship building and serving for several years. This journey with the wonderful people at Sharing Connexion is very exciting and will be an enhancement to the mission, goals and success of Caring & Sharing Community Resources and Transformation Center. Through their support, we will successfully and effectively continue to embrace the lives of others and help positively transform individuals and families that seek our service. We are beyond appreciative and grateful for Sharing Connexion's kindness and willingness to work with Caring & Sharing," - Dara Goldsby, Executive Director of Caring and Sharing Community Resources and Transformation Center
"Gypsum is an ideal community for affordable housing in the lower Eagle River Valley... This allows for extensive open space and active amenities for the families we hope to attract that would not be possible in the upper Eagle River Valley communities... We actually got [the loan] paid off prior to initial maturity. The bridge loan was a breeze. You all were easy to deal with and always solution oriented. We would absolutely work with you again if the opportunity arises" - Gerry Flynn, Polar Star Properties, and developer of Spring Creek Apartments providing 150 units of affordable housing for households earning 60 percent of area median income and 132 units of "attainable" housing for households earning 80 - 120 percent of area median income
"Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation could not be happier with the final result of this project and cannot imagine how it could have gone any better. We hope to be in a position in the future to partner with Sharing Connexion again on any potential future real estate gifts to help maximize the impact to Children's Hospital Colorado" - says Steve Shineman, Senior Vice President at CHCF
"A few years ago, our organization was facing a serious real estate challenge because of the I-70 expansion project. How fortunate it was for us to be referred to Sharing Connexion. They quickly became a key advisor in coaching us through the financial aspects of a nonprofit building purchase. I especially appreciated their creative solutions to financing problems that can sometimes be daunting to community organizations. Sharing Connexion's advice and investment made it possible for us to purchase our building and continue our mission of employing individuals rebuilding lives. We are so thankful for their help!" - James Reiner, Executive Director of Bud's Warehouse
"The thought of losing this property was devastating for us because it took years to find this home, and it works perfectly for our program. When we met with Sharing Connexion, we immediately realized that we were working with people who actually cared about how this would negatively impact the girls we work with and knew this was a perfect solution for us... We believe that every girl deserves a childhood and a safe place to live, and without Sharing Connexion stepping in to help us, we would not be able to provide our crucial services. We are incredibly thankful." - Kristen Harness, Previous Director of Extended Hands of Hope
