Testimonials

"The arts enrich every aspect of every life. The Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center provides this, as well as enjoyment for all who enter its doors. The children's museum ensures the arts will flourish for many generations to come."
- LaLonna Meoska

"I have a soft spot in my heart for the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center. It has played an integral role in my life. While my career path has taken me to Denver for new adventures, I still value the important things the Arts Center taught me during my formative years. More importantly, I realize the significance the Center has to the Pueblo community, the southern Colorado region and beyond.
Pueblo deserves a strong cultural center; one that engages, excites, provokes and inspires future generations. I hope that my small gift might help accomplish just that."
- David Zupancik

"Endowments are a way of sustaining the excellence of artistic exhibits and beneficial educational programs. I am pleased to be a part of this vital program."
- Louise Lucidi

Mission

The Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center creates artistic, cultural, and educational experiences for everyone.

Background Statement

One-of-a-kind, educational, inspirational, inclusive; the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center (The Arts Center) fits all of these descriptions and more. Pledging art for all, this beautiful facility, located in Pueblo, CO, has held hands with arts education in Southern Colorado since 1972 and has never let go.

The Arts Center's original construction supported downtown urban renewal, but also served to promote cultural activities for the broader area and attract visitors to the city. The Arts Center opened with a single gallery, a 500-seat theater, studio/classroom spaces, a dance studio and a conference facility and later added three more galleries, a gift shop, a children's museum, café, sculpture garden and outdoor galleria.

The Arts Center, accredited by the American Association of Museums, is a multi-disciplinary center for the arts that serves its citizens from Pueblo, Colorado and 18 surrounding counties. As an organization, the Arts Center encourages people to bring out the best in others through high-quality cultural experiences. The Arts Center's programs include: an art museum featuring permanent and temporary exhibitions, a school of dance, adult and children's performance series, and arts education. An exceptional professional staff and a dedicated corps of more than 125 volunteers provide classes, workshops and staff the exhibits. The Arts Center works to reach underserved audiences through programs designed specifically for low-income families, at-risk youth, the elderly, and the disabled. In recent years, as access to quality arts programming has waned in southern Colorado's public schools, the Arts Center has assumed the vital role of providing arts enrichment programs to area youth.

The Buell Children's Museum has been named Colorado's best children's museum and has received top honors by Child Magazine.
