Evidence of Program's Success

Data evidence of number of child victims who receive services at Safe Passage is compared to numbers of investigated and issued cases of child abuse in the Fourth Judicial District. Perhaps more important, data on the individual child victims is analyzed to show that the victims' trauma has been reduced and the victims are indicating increased self-sufficiency and safety post-Safe Passage services.

Description

Safe Passage provides forensic medical exams to confirmed or suspected child victims of sexual assault or physical abuse on-site at this children's advocacy center. These exams are conducted by a specially trained and qualified Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and a child-abuse expert Pediatrician. The exams may provide crucial evidence in the criminal investigation of child abuse, and they enable the medical professional to assure the children and caregivers that the children will physically be OK - they are not broken.
