The mission of Second Wind Fund of Boulder County is to decrease the incidence of youth suicide by removing financial and social barriers to treatment for at-risk youth.
The Second Wind Fund of Boulder County (SWFBC) began its mission as an affiliate of the Second Wind Fund Inc. in September 2009 through the support of three Boulder community partners: The Hope Coalition, Colie's Closet and The Parent Engagement Network. SWFBC was launched with seed money provided by the Second Wind Fund Inc. and the Hope Coalition of Boulder.
SWFBC was founded to address the closing of another local non-profit in our community called Compass House that provided services for youth suffering from severe mental health issues. Bringing Second Wind to Boulder, filled this loss and also provided a narrow focus of services to youth at risk for suicide.
"My child was struggling with a disability, depression and big life changes. We tried to find him the necessary therapy to improve his mental health, but were dismayed by either the distance, the quality or the cost. The Second Wind Fund of Boulder County provided the resources for my child to get the help he needed. Thanks to Second Wind Fund, he is much happier, and has new tools to face his challenges
