SOCO Vail Dream Team

This winter, Cheryl and her husband Max Batzer, a volunteer instructor for the Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO), coordinated an exchange program between Camp Jabberwocky of Martha's Vineyard and the Vail Special Olympics Ski/Snowboard Team.

During the first "Mountains and Martha's" exchange, Max helped SOCO's athlete Brandon Fergoso and family visit Martha's Vineyard, and Jabberwocky's athlete Phillip Kellem visit Vail.

It has been an eyeopening experience for the Batzers to spend time with these families and appreciate the difficulties inherrent in their responsiblities, not just for a few days, but 24x7x365 for life. They believe it is privilege to help in a small way improve the scope of their horizions which otherwise might remain economically limited.
