Some nonprofits in our community
  • La Puente Home, Inc.
The San Luis Valley has some of the highest poverty in the state. We are the only nonprofit providing a network of services to address the neediest among us, including children, families, homeless. We provide shelter, housing, food, meals, prevention (rent, electrical, heating etc.) assistance.
  • Rio Grande Watershed Conservation & Education Initiative
Colorado's most precious natural resources, water and soil, need understanding and conserving more than ever. As we strive across the state to create educated community members, the San Luis Valley also wants to engage our children (and future voting community members) with our natural resources.
  • Alamosa Live Music Association
ALMA addresses the dynamics of poverty and cultural isolation in the San Luis Valley by producing affordable, and often free, high quality live music concerts, while at the same time paying musicians, staff and sound technicians competitive wages.
  • Upper Rio Grande Animal Society
Upper Rio Grande Animal Society (URGAS) is located in the San Luis Valley. Several of the counties in the Valley are among the lowest income areas of the State of Colorado. URGAS accepts dogs from all over the Valley. As a 501(c)3 organization, all donation may be deductible on your income taxes.
