Rocky Mountain Youth Sports

A nonprofit organization

For 9 years, Rocky Mountain Youth Sports has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of young people in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming. There are dozens of stories of young athletes whose lives have been changed due in part to their participation in our programs. We often hear stories of young athletes who have been more successful at school, showed greater interest in philanthropic activities, and been more civic minded, thanks in part to the lessons they have learned from their coaches and participation in youth basketball.

Organizationally, our goal is to expand our programs and reach more youth providing them with the opportunity to develop athletic skills and learn lessons that are valuable as part of their overall development. Our hope is that we can provide children and young adults with the tools they need to be successful beyond sports.

One of our long range goals is to build a facility that can be used for training and as a safe place where area youth can develop their basketball skills.

Your donation to Rocky Mountain Youth Sports will help offset costs to participating families and will help us offer quality programming at a reasonable cost. One of our goals is that no player who wishes to participate on a Fever team or at a Fever camp is denied that opportunity based on financial need. Please consider a financial donation to our organization so that we can continue providing quality programs at an affordable cost to our families.

Testimonials

"Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball has been such an excellent experience for my son and our family. They try to accommodate everyone with their practice schedules and fundraising programs. Communication is another strength of the Fever organization as they provide continual support to all its teams. Fever Basketball works hard to focus on the development of every player. The experience my son has received playing basketball under the top-notch coaches has been invaluable. Our son continues to improve every day. The coaches are extremely encouraging and caring. They are a great role model for our kids having the highest regard and respect for the teams that they train. Thank you Fever Basketball for providing such a great opportunity for my son and Northern Colorado to compete in basketball."

- The Pryor Family

"With our involvement in Fever that includes both of our sons, it appears to me you are doing things very well and trying very hard to operate a first class operation. We appreciate this. Thanks for all you did to make our sons' basketball experience an outstanding one. It was everything we'd hoped for and more. Thank you so much."

-The Seng Family

"The Fever Basketball club has always provided a positive environment for my son to play basketball. They provide many activities (practices, leagues, tournaments, clinics, open gyms) for him to develop his skills and have fun. As a bonus, he has made lots of friends. We really appreciate the staff and coaches who lead the Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball Club. They are great!"

-The Childs Family

"We really love the organization and appreciate how organized you all are. Our kids have participated in many other organizations and Fever by far is the best in many aspects! Although the club is not inexpensive as former participants in Arsenal, Storm, Fort Collins Baseball Club, Various Swim Teams, and Ballet, Fever is a tremendous value and worth every penny of the fee."

Mission

Rocky Mountain Youth Sports, parent organization to the Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball Club, founded in 2008, offers opportunities for boys and girls in grades three through eleven to play competitive basketball.

Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball is the premier youth basketball organization in Northern Colorado offering quality programs designed to improve basketball skills, build character, and support the emotional and physical development of young athletes in our communities.

RMYS supports the community by serving 500+ players yearly while guiding parents and coaches in ways to positively encourage all participants. We accomplish these goals by offering team and player activities such as Fever club teams and player development through camps, clinics, and open gym time.

Background Statement

OUR BEGINNING

Shannon Lopez and Dorsi Smith founded the first non-profit basketball organization in Northern Colorado, Rocky Mountain Youth Sports (RMYS), in 2008. Shannon and Dorsi saw a need to provide quality basketball programs to local youth that focused on athletic skill development and character development. The original program design included a summer club program called "Rocky Mountain Fever" and a winter "Juniors" program designed to allow basketball players to play in a feeder program for their respective high schools. Since 2008, RMYS has formed well over 120 teams competing locally, regionally, and nationally. For over 9 years, some of the regions best players have chosen to play on Fever teams. Dozens of Fever alumni have moved on to play college basketball at different levels including NCAA Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, and NAIA.

OUR FUTURE

In 2016, RMYS and Fever underwent changes to the leadership of our organization as well as improvements to our programs to better serve the basketball community in Northern Colorado, Southern Wyoming, and Western Nebraska. The Fever Basketball Club implemented an aggressive plan to expand programs and form the most competitive teams from Northern Colorado capable of competing with any program in the Rocky Mountain region. Our objective is to work with area schools, coaches, and influencers in the basketball community to offer high quality opportunities for young athletes to develop basketball skills and learn life lessons.

Also in 2016, RMYS began promoting Rocky Mountain Fever as our main brand. Our teams and all basketball programming will fall under the Fever name. We believe that by organizing under the name Rocky Mountain Fever Basketball, we can improve awareness and build a stronger, more recognizable brand that attracts families looking for the best opportunities for their children. The Fever name is already widely known throughout our region and continues to be well respected for organizing competitive teams and offering high quality programs.
