$20,000 Goal

RiversEdge West (formerly Tamarisk Coalition) works to keep rivers and the land along them healthy for people, wildlife, and future generations. Since 2001, we’ve restored thousands of acres of riverside habitat across Colorado and the West.

We believe everyone should be able to connect with rivers. That’s why we offer free river education programs, giving students the chance to explore, learn, and even create art inspired by the Colorado River.

Volunteers are also at the heart of our work; last year they gave over 280 hours and planted over 100 native plants to help care for restoration sites. Together, we’re making our rivers stronger and our communities healthier.

When you give to RiversEdge West, you’re helping protect clean water, healthy lands, and opportunities for kids and families to enjoy rivers for years to come. Join us in keeping rivers alive and thriving!

Mission

RiversEdge West restores riparian ecosystems through education, collaboration, and technical assistance.

Background Statement

RiversEdge West (formerly Tamarisk Coalition) was founded in 1999. RiversEdge West focuses on riparian (riverside) forest and floodplain health in the American West to address impacts from invasive riparian plants such as Russian olive and tamarisk, challenges associated with climate change and habitat fragmentation, and stressors that may result in diminished biodiversity and ecosystem services.

As a leader in collaborative river restoration efforts, our success comes by connecting a diverse set of stakeholders and utilizing decades of experience to foster long-lasting relationships. In turn, this leads to successful and sustainable partnerships and restoration outcomes across boundaries.

Providing support and technical assistance to partner organizations is a top priority for REW. Whether it is providing feedback on restoration techniques in the field, securing funding for projects, or leading public outreach and awareness events, we work to ensure restoration efforts are successful, supported, and sustainable.

Additionally, RiversEdge West excels in educating the community, including younger generations. By providing clear and concise information on managing invasive riparian plants and reestablishing native plant communities, REW is creating long-lasting river stewardship for generations to come.
