Regis Jesuit High School

A nonprofit organization

With more than 140 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic high school serving grades 9-12 in the Denver-metro area rooted firmly in Jesuit educational tradition and leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century. Our unique model offers the best of both worlds—single-gender classroom experience with opportunities for boys and girls to engage socially, spiritually and in co-curricular activities.

We are grateful to our community who supports Regis Jesuit and advances the transformational mission, values and strategic vision of the school.

Inspire & Ignite 2025

Inspire & Ignite 2025 is Regis Jesuit’s strategic vision for access, innovation and excellence. We have identified three funding initiatives that we need our entire community to dig into and support.

  • Access & Affordability - Ensure a robust financial aid program that offers the opportunity for a Regis Jesuit education to every qualified student. One in three students currently receives financial aid, and we are committed to serving our RJ families that need assistance.
  • Academic Enhancements - Complete the new 65,000 square-foot Science & Innovation Center—a cutting-edge building that will elevate each student’s potential with hands-on learning. This facility will bolster science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics programs for all students.
  • Athletic Needs - Upgrade and relocate our tennis facility and add two artificial turf fields as part of an ongoing campus master plan for athletics. We will also create an additional 175 parking spaces as we develop the land along the southeast side of campus.

As this vision continues to take shape on campus, we invite our entire community to you join us by making a gift to the Strategic Initiatives Fund, which serves as the engine driving this vision.

Testimonials

"Regis Jesuit pushed me to my potential, and I want to push the school to continue to grow and enhance the student experience. The Science & Innovation Center will take Regis Jesuit to the next level, and I am happy and fortunate to be one of the many contributing members of this project.” -JOHN LEO SCHMIDT ’14

"Over the years, I’ve been the recipient of someone else’s generosity, and I include my Catholic educators as part of that. When I look at the places I can support, I choose the ones that are most deserving and will be the most appreciative. For me, Regis Jesuit certainly fits those criteria.” -MIKE ARMISTEAD ‘82

"We support the school because our children, Ava & Jack, have grown in so many ways. With our philanthropy, our goal is to foster transformative and meaningful experiences for all students within the Regis Jesuit mission.” -TONY AND AMY DE SIMONE, PARENTS OF AVA ’23 AND JACK ‘25

Background Statement

Regis Jesuit High School traces its origins to the College of the Sacred Heart and was founded in 1877 in Las Vegas, New Mexico by Jesuits from Naples, Italy. In 1884, the Jesuits opened a second school in Morrison, Colorado. Four years later, the Las Vegas and Morrison schools were merged into College of the Sacred Heart and moved to West 52nd and Lowell Blvd in Denver. Later the school was named for St. John Francis Regis, after a French Jesuit.

In 1921, the high school and college formally separated into two distinct entities, and in 1979 they became separate corporations. With the completion of a new high school building on the college campus in 1976, Regis Jesuit High School moved out of the Regis University facilities. However, the school soon outgrew that building as well and it was decided that a new location was needed to allow for future expansion.

On September 16, 1989, the cornerstone was laid for the new high school campus in Aurora. Classes began at this location in September of 1990. In January of 1997, Regis Jesuit purchased 35 additional acres at this site; and on April 11, 2003, we broke ground for the construction of a new facility for the Boys Division. The Girls Division, with 170 students, opened its doors at St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church in August of 2003. In August of 2004, the Boys Division moved into their new facility; and the Girls Division moved into the newly renovated original facility. These moves brought the two divisions together on the Campbell Campus, named for the benefactor who donated the original parcel of land in Aurora allowing the school to continue its rich tradition.

In April 2014, Regis Jesuit celebrated the grand opening of the Steele Center. This building houses classrooms for instrumental and vocal music, along with a theatre for productions, Masses, lectures, competitions and meetings and a common gathering space for all members of the Regis Jesuit community.

Today, Regis Jesuit forms approximately 930 boys and 720 girls to be Men and Women with and for Others each year. The school is part of a network of 63 Jesuit high schools and 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States whose goal it is to educate leaders of competence, conscience and compassion who strive to build a better world. Regis Jesuit is the largest Catholic school in Colorado and is the only co-divisional Jesuit school in the United States, offering a structured single-gender academic environment during the day and co-ed activities outside of school hours.
