Directly Support People with Disabilities Experiencing Homelessness in Denver

Donate to the Mission Supports Program this Colorado Gives Day

It is estimated that 20 percent of the homeless population in Denver may qualify for intellectual and development disability (I/DD) services, and many just don’t know it. This lack of knowledge can lead to dire outcomes, but with access to the right services and supports, these individuals can pursue a bright future of health, safety, and independence away from homelessness.

The Mission Supports Program at RMHS is a unique and long-standing resource for unhoused individuals with I/DD that helps to identify those who may qualify for disability benefits and walks them through the appropriate steps to get them the individualized support they need. By donating to Mission Supports at RMHS, you help make proactive steps in addressing the homelessness crisis in Denver.

What your donation provides:

  • $25 can help individuals obtain a Colorado ID, receive over-the-counter medications, or fund RTD rides.
  • $50 can help individuals recover birth certificates and other records necessary for receiving services, pay for monthly phone minutes, and find emergency Lyft/Uber transportation.
  • $100 can help individuals find an emergency one-night motel stay, rent a monthly storage unit, or buy a cell phone.

Previously a part of the Colorado Fund for People with Disabilities (CFPD), Mission Supports recently transitioned to Rocky Mountain Human Services (RMHS). Since it's onset in 2017, the Mission Supports program has helped over 250 Denver County participants obtain disability benefits and find essential supports like permanent housing, medical care, legal assistance and guardianship.

Thank you for choosing to donate to Mission Supports on Colorado Gives Day and for helping to change the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Your support offers a direct way to help address Denver's homelessness crisis.

RMHS Background Statement

RMHS is a nonprofit organization that offers person-centered case management and direct services to improve the health, self-sufficiency, and overall quality of life for children, adults, and veterans in Colorado. With a staff of over 500 talented and dedicated employees, we support more than 15,000 Colorado residents with a variety of needs throughout the state.

Founded in 1992, RMHS was born of the collective will of a determined group of parents, advocates, and civic-minded individuals who wanted more and better for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). They wanted better services and more choice. More meaningful employment opportunities. And they wanted to see people with I/DD play a greater role in making the kinds of decisions that shaped their lives.

These ideas, which came to be called a person-centered approach, were the foundation of RMHS and continue to guide our work to this day. RMHS certainly is a larger and more complex organization than it was at its inception, but that central belief system is an unshakable part of our heritage.
