Recreational aviation includes flying for fun, families learning about airplanes together, building, restoring and flying airplanes, and exploring new opportunities in aviation and STEM curricula.
Background Statement
Colorado Sport Aviation began in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain EAA Regional Fly-In. An outreach of the Experimental Aircraft Association based in Oshkosh, WI, we were one of eight regional events across the country to help promote aviation and education. In 2002, the organization incorporated as a Colorado based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and added the Rocky Mountain Airshow to the list of annual activities. Since then, the event has moved from Greeley to Longmont to Watkins and finally to Broomfield. Due to airport construction in 2014, the event was moved to Greeley and will return to the Denver metropolitan area in 2015.
