How can your company participate in Colorado Gives Day?
Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. For the ninth year, Community First Foundation and FirstBank encourage Coloradans to “Give Where You Live” on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, by donating to local nonprofits on ColoradoGives.org.
Community First Foundation invites Colorado businesses to encourage their employees to take an active role in supporting local nonprofits.
“We are pleased with the support we are receiving from local businesses through the years demonstrating the good corporate citizenship we have in Colorado,” says Dana Rinderknecht, director of online giving, Community First Foundation.
A recent report from B:CIVIC says giving was on the rise in 2017–be part of our local giving movement by engaging your employees through ColoradoGives.org! It's a great way to increase your corporation's social responsibility, build community with local nonprofits, minimize the obstacles of giving and have fun with your employees in a meaningful way.
Here are some ways your business can participate in the day:
Place signage in your business to announce the day.
Announce on your employees are support Colorado Gives Day on your website and social media sites.
Ask employees to visit ColoradoGives.org, search for a nonprofit to support and share their reasons with colleagues.
Use fundraising pages to track donations to specific nonprofits.
Bring snacks and set aside a time on December 4 (Colorado Gives Day) for staff to donate online together. Set up laptops or iPads in the lunchroom for a donation party.
Match your employees’ donations.
Offer a jeans or casual day for those who plan to donate.
Ask employees to circulate the “I Gave” badge on their own Facebook pages.
Create a goal around dollars donated, number of employees giving or number of nonprofits supported. Ask employees to propose and agree on an award or special employee benefit for reaching the goal.
Have departments challenge each other to reach the largest number of nonprofits supported (minimum donation is $10) or largest dollar amount donated. The winning department is treated to a free lunch from your business.
Ask employees to guess what the total dollars raised for Colorado Gives Day will be. To participate, employees contribute to the pool; winner takes all.
