El Pueblo History Museum Support for Educational Programming

History Colorado, the Colorado Historical Society

Established in 1959, El Pueblo History Museum is more than a museum space --- it is a cultural center in the heart of Pueblo!

Your donations to El Pueblo History Museum will help us support and increase our public education programs. Donations for Colorado Gives Day will be used to fund public education programs for children and adults like Hands-On History, lectures and cultural celebrations.
Hands-On History provides working families with full-day children's programing, K-8th, when school is not in session. With the adoption of the 4-day school week by both school districts in our community, Hands-On History provides a reliable, safe, educational, and fun program that is expanding to meet the needs of families in Pueblo. Your donations provide more opportunities for students with financial needs to access this programming.

Throughout the year El Pueblo History Museum provides the community with free lectures and cultural celebrations. The lectures are presented by national and international scholars on a wide variety of subjects, and often fill the museum space to capacity. As well, the cultural celebrations held at the museum feature dance and music performances, cultural activities, and food, and each is attended by hundreds of community members. Please connect with us by email or Facebook to receive notices about these events- you're invited. Your donations on Colorado Gives Day help us expand to serve ever-increasing audiences for this impactful programing.

Visitors to El Pueblo can experience innovative exhibits including the Borderlands of Southern Colorado and the award-winning Children of Ludlow. The property includes a re-created 1840s adobe trading post and plaza, and the archaeological excavation site of the original 1842 El Pueblo trading post.

El Pueblo History Museum is a community-centered museum offering year-round educational opportunities for youth, adults, and school and community groups.

Donation of $250 or more to El Pueblo History Museum are eligible to receive 25% of the donation amount as a Colorado Enterprise Zone Tax Credit.
