Project Smile Corporation

A nonprofit organization

Project Smile is requesting funds to help with urgent dental and vision care for kids. We provide free care and supplies for every low income child in Poudre School District. We are seeing an increase in children who need extensive dental care and even anesthesia. Please give! We need your help!

Testimonials

We screened a 10 year old child who had over 20 holes in her teeth! She had been in constant pain. After extensive dental work, her mother said she could not remember when she last saw her daughter smile. Her teacher said the girl was a different child now. She enters into classroom discussions and has improved dramatically in her grades.
Another young girl was screened and needed vision care. She was given a free eye exam and two pair of glasses by Project Smile. She told her mother the reason she had done so poorly in telling time from the classroom clock exercises was that she had not realized the clock had hands. The teacher reports she also has become a consistent part of classroom discussions and her reading ability has jumped higher. When we give kids an equal chance to compete in class, we give them an equal chance to compete in life!

Mission

The purpose of Project Smile Non-Profit Corporation is to provide for and promote dental and/or vision care and general welfare for low income children who do not have ready access to affordable help that Project Smile can provide and who live within the Poudre School District boundaries.

Background Statement

For 11 years Project Smile has helped meet urgent needs for many children by in-school screenings and follow-up treatment using local dental and vision professionals and volunteers. Our goal is to provide services for every child in Poudre School District (PSD) who needs dental and vision treatment and has no means to pay. Studies have proven that proper dental care eliminates tooth aches and pains which can lead to lack of focus in school and hunger during the child's lifetime. We strive to eliminate the root cause of this pain by providing essential dental care. In addition, we provide good dental hygiene educational information and small group demonstrations with students and send each student home with a goody bag of dental supplies twice a year.

Good vision is essential for students of all ages to reach their full academic potential. Project Smile provides a free professional vision checkup and two pair of glasses (one for home, one for school) to each participating child.
