Mission

The mission of Poudre Landmarks Foundation (PLF) is to preserve, restore, protect, and interpret the architectural and cultural heritage of the Fort Collins area. PLF envisions a community that understands, appreciates and values its past. PLF aims to be the voice of history in Fort Collins.

Background Statement

Poudre Landmarks Foundation was founded in 1972 by Fort Collins citizens to preserve and celebrate local history and architecture. In 1974 the City purchased the 1879 Avery House and PLF began its management. Poudre Landmarks restored the home to its current splendor as an historic museum. In 1995 PLF also began managing the City's 1883 Water Works facility.

Poudre Landmarks has over 50 years of experience offering quality history related events for the community and a strong reputation of fiscal responsibility, demonstrating our ability to manage a long list of efforts simultaneously. Poudre Landmarks is known as a cultural leader in the community. We actively seek out collaborations with others in our community, including Poudre School District, Downtown Development Authority, Visit Fort Collins, Colorado State University, Downtown Fort Collins Creative District, Poudre River Library District, City of Fort Collins, local history groups, local museums, arts organizations, historic neighborhoods, and others. These collaborations ensure the greatest impact on the cultural life of the community and reduce duplication of efforts.

Poudre Landmarks uses our past experiences to guide our yearly event planning, therefore our event offerings have grown in scope and depth over the years. Our knowledge of what type of events the community wants, coupled with our organizational capacity bring us to our current offerings. We boast more than 200 volunteers and are poised and ready to accomplish our ambitious schedule. We are continually exploring new ways to reach out to the Fort Collins community.
