The purpose of this program is to help ease the stray dog epidemic in the United States. Pawsitive Restorations retrieves stray, dumped, abused, neglected, injured and unwanted dogs from the most heavily impacted areas of the country. (One suburb of south Dallas, TX alone has an estimated 9,000 stray dogs, and Houston has an estimated 300,000 stray dogs within their city limits!) We bring as many of these dogs as we can to Colorado, where they receive top quality veterinary care, rehabilitation, socialization, proper nutrition, microchip identification, and spay/neuter sterilization prior to being adopted into their stringently inspected new forever homes. Impacted area animal shelters, licensed animal transport organizations, a myriad of veterinarians and other "on the ground" licensed rescue organizations are eager to work with us to facilitate the immediate rescue of the animals most in need. The dogs that come through our organization from these places vary from the severely abused, medically fragile, neglected to the point of starvation, and physically injured, to infant puppies that someone just dumped on the side of the road, nursing mothers, owner surrenders, and even pets whose owners have passed away and have nowhere else to go. We provide these dogs a desperately needed last chance to escape unnecessary euthanasia at shelters that are already bursting at the seams.
Pawsitive Restorations successfully saves the lives of HUNDREDS of animals every year, who were previously slated to die in a lonely shelter or in the ditch their injured bodies were dumped in. Our pre-adoption quarantine and medical protocol ensures that the animals we adopt out are healthy, which increases community confidence when adopting a "used" animal. We are thrilled to have a return rate of less than 0.1% due to our stringent pre-adoption protocol. These animals are not only being saved, but they are truly moving forward to the best lives imaginable!
