Parlando School of Musical Arts was founded as “Parlando Incorporated” in 2002 and began programming in 2003. The founding vision of Parlando was to increase accessibility to music for all people. In August of 2007, Parlando School of Musical Arts was born. This new endeavor greatly expanded Parlando’s capacity to bring music into the lives of more members of our community. It also provided valuable outreach to children, local schools, and senior citizens.
We still have robust outreach programming for these populations, as well as programming for neurodiverse students, early childhood programming, and we remain vigilant in our efforts toward a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.
Parlando is now Colorado’s largest arts stand-alone outreach and education provider, providing lessons, classes, and outreach to over 3,000 people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds on any given week.
Parlando School of Musical Arts’ mission is to provide access to people of all ages and abilities, inspiring them to share in the love of music and the arts through education, community collaboration, and performance opportunity.
“Parlando” is an Italian word meaning “to speak.” In musical terms, Parlando means “to speak in a musical way.” At Parlando School of Musical Arts, we are committed to unifying our community through the universal language of music and the arts.

We recognize that we have work to do to prioritize and center racial equity and representation among our faculty, our programming, our educational practices, and our resources. We commit to the time, energy, resources, funding, and long term institutional changes this will entail – we intend to show and not tell.
