Open Bard : A Literary Series

Description

Open Bard is a literary series based in Ridgway, Colorado. The organization invites a featured writers to read or perform their work and then a community open mic is hosted.

Description

The Ouray County Performing Arts Guild is pleased to offer scholarships to nurture performing arts skills in young individuals in our community, leading to a lifelong interest in the performing arts - either as a professional performer, or as an avocation while pursuing an unrelated career. Since 2006, OCPAG has awarded over $49,000 for 89 scholarships to deserving students pursuing training in music, dance and theater whether at the college level or in summer camp or workshop opportunities in Ouray County.

Students who have gone on the pursue arts-related majors and careers and then have returned to Ouray County as performers. Also, students who may not have pursued an arts-related major, however have developed a love for the arts and support arts in their community and lives.

Description

The Ouray County Performing Arts Guild works closely with the Mt. Sneffels Education Foundation and our local school districts to provide outreach concerts to enhance the schools' performing arts programs. We are proud to say that through this partnership, we are able to reach every school-aged child in Ouray County.

Students, teachers and school administration provided feedback about how valuable the programs OCPAG has brought into the schools and enriched the learning experience. Often, programs such as these must be provided by outside organizations as there is not funding within today's school budgets to bring in outside performing arts opportunities to Ouray County students.

Ouray County Chorus

Description

OCPAG is a proud supporter of the Ouray County Chorus. The chorus is made up of community members singing soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts. The funding OCPAG provides to the OCC helps to compensate the choir director, chorus pianist, purchase music and rent the performance venue for the December and Spring concerts. OCPAG also owns the piano the chorus uses for it's performances at the Ouray County 4H Event Center in Ridgway.
