Testimonials

"I'm inspired and hopeful now...two things I wasn't when I walked into the first class. My son is the love of my life, the best thing I ever did and mental illness can't change that. He's loving, devoted, and compassionate. He worships the ground his sweet wife walks on and he's the best friend to his friends. I pray God protects him and helps him to use his illness to help others who are suffering. What NAMI does, makes a REAL difference in people's lives and I hope to be able to give back some of what I've received." - NAMI Family-to-Family Graduate

Mission

To provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

Background Statement

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has grown into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, NAMI is an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.
