Mission Statement

The mission of The Lowry Foundation is to preserve the legacy of Lowry AFB and strengthen the community of Lowry. The Foundation enriches the quality of life and spaces in Lowry through programs of artistic, cultural, educational, historic, recreational and scientific value. The Foundation also owns and maintains the historic Eisenhower Chapel as a central gathering place for the Community.

The Foundation intends that its services and operations be self-sustaining and last in perpetuity.

Organization History

The Lowry Foundation is the 501(C)3 organization originally charged with the enhancement of the Lowry community through art, culture, history and science. In 2019, The Foundation re-stated the mission to preserving the legacy and strengthening the community of Lowry.
The Foundation commissions, installs and maintains public art and is responsible for preservation of the historic Eisenhower Chapel. Voluntary board members raise money.

Sustainable funding is important for upkeep of public and transit art, operating a community grant program to fund Lowry-based projects, and the preservation of the Eisenhower Chapel and other historic sites. The Foundation remains committed to bringing the best opportunities, programs and events to the students, residents, visitors and businesses of Lowry.

"Lowry Air Force Base served our country for more than half a century by housing and training military from all branches of the U.S. and Allied Forces. The base closed in 1994 after graduating more than 1.1 million Armed Forces members. It has since become a master-planned community with some original structures creatively repurposed for a rich, practical sense of history."

"The Foundation provides a vital level of support to the pride and livability of Lowry. Funds raised help preserve and maintain public spaces and historic structures, alongside the creation and support of community programs and events."
