Help Those That Cannot Help Themselves

Loma Cat House is an all volunteer nonprofit that rescues cats & kittens who are abandoned, lost, neglected, surrendered, or abused by providing safe shelter (free roaming), daily care, food, socialization, medical attention, vaccines, spay-neuter surgery whilst finding responsible pet owners for our sheltered and foster felines, and care for community feral cats. Our goals are to lessen unwanted cat populations, encourage people to adopt from a shelter to give a kitten or cat another chance in life and inform communities to spay and neuter their pets. We offer adoptions that include spay-neuter surgery and vaccinations and participate in humane Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) of feral cat populations -- with hope that Colorado can too become a no-kill, no euthanize state.

Mission

Loma Cat House (Loma), Inc is an IRS 501(c)(3) volunteer organization that rescues unwanted, abandoned, neglected, and abused kittens & cats by providing safe shelter (free roaming), daily care, food, warmth, medical attention, socialization, vaccines, spay-neuter surgery and love while seeking qualified permanent homes in Mesa County.

Background Statement

Cats are some of the most vulnerable animals that exist in our community, and often enter animal shelters not neutered with a history of abuse and neglect. Despite their significant numbers, they remain largely unseen, and their proliferation increases, unless their births can be controlled and more people adopt from shelters and not from breeders or pet mills.

Animal rescue shelters like Loma Cat House (LCH) offer an interim solution. Since 2005, Loma Cat House was founded to address this crisis by providing care and medical attention in an open-space, no-kill shelter and fostering for homeless cats and kittens and working diligently to place them with responsible pet owners while also being dedicated with Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) efforts of stray cats and feral colonies.

The efforts of Loma Cat House, and local animal shelters, provide numerous benefits to the community that include: humanely controlling feral cat populations through TNR; matching shelter pets with loving pet owners; partnering with veterinarians for age appropriate vaccinations and neutering; and offering affordable adoption fees. Combined, these services improve the quality of life in our community by: reducing the number of strays and making our community more humane; raising the mental health of residents with loving animal companions; reducing the risk of homeless animals from being euthanized by providing foster homes and a safe shelter and by adopting to permanent homes.

Loma Cat House is a volunteer managed organization that relies on the financial and in-kind support of the community and its adoption fees, which go directly to rescuing cats or kittens, no matter their age, condition or personality, in need of shelter, food and care.
