Background Statement
The vision for the Levitt Pavilion Denver project began in 2009 and was born out of the master plan for Ruby Hill Park, an 80-acre green space within the city limits in southwest Denver. In 2012, the not-for-profit Friends of Levitt Pavilion Denver was established to make this cultural facility a reality — working in partnership with the City of Denver and the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, a leader in the creative placemaking movement.
Levitt Pavilion Denver opened with a season of free concerts in 2017, and since that time has become a cultural anchor and beloved community gathering place. With a diverse array of 50+ free concerts and community events each season — and with the average concert ticket in Denver now over $100 — Levitt Pavilion is one of the largest providers of free live music in the state and welcomes over 130,000 visitors annually.
Community is woven into every element of Levitt Pavilion Denver's mission and operations, including programmatic partnerships with cultural organizations in the region, the dynamic Bodies of Culture board, and a renewed focus on internships and workforce development to contribute to a more diverse, inclusive and equitable future for the music industry.
