Mission

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. IRC responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises in the midst of an unprecedented global refugee crisis. At work in more than 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities, IRC programs aim to positively impact people's health, safety, education, economic well-being and power.

Background Statement

Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einsten to help people fleeing Nazi-occupied Europe, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict.
