Description

Together Counts was started by The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, a broad-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help reduce obesity, especially childhood obesity, by encouraging positive and permanent lifestyle changes among school-aged children and their families. Together Counts offers free resources for youth based organizations through TogetherCounts.com. Healthy LifeStars aquired Together Counts in spring of 2019.

Description

The LifeSTar Challenge program focuses on 3 key healthy habit areas-eating right, being active, and setting/meeting goals. Thirty-five short, simple, adaptable lessons are available online to youth based partner sites. Sites select staff (coaches) to implement the program. The LifeStar Challenge utilizes incentives and rewards to motivate and empower kids to achieve healthy habits. Healthy Lifestars provides materials, training, incentives and ongoing support so that kids can learn about and commit to living active, healthy lives every day.

Evidence of Program's Success

Measure of program success are tracked through coaches, parent feedback and staff rubric assessment. The program has had any positive outcomes identified by coaches including reduction in disciplinary issues and disruptive behavior, better academic performance, improvement in self-esteem, increase cardiovascual capacity and an increase in focus and happiness.
